Route 7 lane shifts and traffic changes begin June 19

Beginning on or about Friday, June 19, drivers on Virginia Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) will experience lane shifts and temporary traffic pattern changes between Baron Cameron Avenue and Carpers Farm Way while crews reconstruct the Delta Glen Court intersection and shift eastbound Route 7 traffic to the north (towards the median).

All residences, businesses, churches and other public facilities will remain accessible. Please see maps and descriptions below for details. Changes to the following intersection movements will be in effect:

June 19, 7:00 PM to June 20

Delta Glen Court/Colvin Run Road

  • Median temporarily closed until the daytime hours on June 20.
  • Drivers on westbound Route 7 to Delta Glen Court will proceed to Baron Cameron Avenue and U-turn to access Delta Glen Court.
  • Drivers on eastbound Route 7 to Colvin Run Road will proceed to the Carpers Farm Way/Colvin Run Road intersection and turn left.
  • Drivers will encounter single-lane closures on eastbound and westbound Route 7 near the Delta Glen Court/Colvin Run Road intersection.

June 20 to June 29, 5:00 AM

Eastbound Route 7 lanes will shift to the north (towards the median). The following traffic pattern changes will be in effect during this time:

Delta Glen Court/Colvin Run Road

  • Median crossover reopens. Drivers on eastbound Route 7 may turn left onto Colvin Run Road. 
  • Delta Glen Court is closed at Route 7 until June 29 at 5:00 AM. Follow detour along Baron Cameron Avenue, Hunter Mill Road, Cobble Pond Way, and Dunn Meadow Road to access Delta Glen Court and neighborhood roads. 
  • Drivers will encounter single-lane closures on eastbound and westbound Route 7 near the Delta Glen Court/Colvin Run Road intersection.

Capital Church and Residences along Eastbound Route 7 between Delta Glen Court and Colvin Forest Drive

  • Drivers on eastbound Route 7 to Capital Church and residences between Delta Glen Court and Colvin Forest Drive will use a one-way temporary access road adjacent to eastbound Route 7 to enter these driveways.
  • Drivers leaving Capital Church and residences between Delta Glen Court and Colvin Forest Drive will travel east along a one-way temporary access road and access eastbound Route 7 from Colvin Forest Drive.

Colvin Forest Drive

  • Colvin Forest Drive will close just south of Route 7 until December 2020. Follow detour along Baron Cameron Avenue, Hunter Mill Road, Cobble Pond Way, Dunn Meadow Road and Yellow Pine Drive.

Carpers Farm Way/Colvin Run Road

  • No left turn from eastbound Route 7 onto Colvin Run Road until 2023. Drivers may access Colvin Run Road at the Delta Glen Court/Colvin Run Road intersection. 
  • Left turns from westbound Route 7 onto Carpers Farm Way will be permitted.

June 29, 5:00 AM to December 2020

Delta Glen Court

  • Delta Glen Court reopens by June 29 at 5:00 AM

Capital Church and Residences along Eastbound Route 7 between Delta Glen Court and Colvin Forest Drive

  • Drivers on eastbound Route 7 to Capital Church and residences between Delta Glen Court and Colvin Forest Drive will enter and exit these driveways via Delta Glen Court and a two-way temporary access road adjacent to eastbound Route 7.

Colvin Forest Drive

  • Colvin Forest Drive remains closed at Route 7 until December 2020. Follow detour along Delta Glen Court, Dunn Meadow Road and Yellow Pine Drive.

Carpers Farm Way/Colvin Run Road

  • No left turn from eastbound Route 7 onto Colvin Run Road until 2023. Drivers may access Colvin Run Road at the Delta Glen Court/Colvin Run Road intersection.
  • Left turns from westbound Route 7 onto Carpers Farm Way will be permitted.

Crews are only working within the VDOT right of way and where rights have been acquired from property owners (read more). As a reminder, the posted speed limit on Route 7 has been reduced to 45 miles per hour in active work zones between Reston Avenue and Jarrett Valley Drive, and Virginia law prohibits the use of handheld cell phones while driving through an active work zone.
