Update: Great Falls branch closure delayed to October 21, 2020
Capital One Bank, Great Falls branch

On February 18, Capital One Bank announced to its Great Falls customers that on May 20, 2020, the Great Falls branch at 9883 Georgetown Pike would close for good. This week an official update to that announcement was made, letting customers know that the branch closure has been delayed to October 21, 2020. Branch personnel reported that Capital One executive management did not wish to be eliminating locations during the coronavirus pandemic, when customers are limiting their time outside the home.

The hours for the Capital One branch in Great Falls are as follows:

Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday:9:00 AM – 12:00PM
Sunday:Closed

The original announcement made several references to the bank’s mobile and online banking services, which may be a clue to a business model for future growth that relies more on digital tools for traditional banking transactions than on bricks-and-mortal locations.

The original announcement also provided a list of nearby branch offices that will remain open, the nearest ones to the Village being the branches at Sterling Town Center and Spectrum Drive in Reston. There was no mention of whether a Capital One Bank ATM will be placed anywhere in Great Falls, for those customers who still like to get cash from their accounts, or check balances and make deposits without using their mobile devices or computers.

The bank continues to recommend that customers sign in to their accounts online and check to make sure the email address the bank has on file is the correct one.
