The land under a lone brick house, built in the 1940s and located at the northern entrance to Tysons, could soon be home to a trio of new single-family homes. The house, familiar with travelers along Leesburg Pike because of its prominent visibility near the edge of the highway, is due to be demolished and replaced with three new single-family houses built on the site. The property sits directly across Jarrett Valley Drive from the McLean Islamic Center and has belonged to the same family for several generations.

The rezoning application and final development plan was reviewed by the Board of Supervisors last Tuesday due to the new houses’ proximity to the nearby roads. The plan includes raising the height of a planned sound wall separating the new homes to be built from the nearby roads to help abate some of the traffic noise.

There were no public speakers on this matter, and the new development was unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors.
