Strong winds Monday morning caused a large tree on the southeast corner of the Old Forestville Schoolhouse property to fall across the entrance to Innsbruck Avenue, just as a crew from the Fairfax County Park Authority was working to remove another tree that had come down a few days earlier.  Damage from the first tree, which came down in the wee hours of Friday morning caused a power outage to approximately 500 customers in Great Falls for several hours.

Although the tree that toppled over shortly after 9:00 a.m. Monday was close to the area where the Park Authority crew was working, no one was injured and no equipment was damaged. However, the wreckage completely blocked the entrance to Innsbruck Avenue.

The crew on hand immediately began to dismantle the fallen tree and, while the road was closed for several hours, by early afternoon Innsbruck Avenue was again passable. During the road closure, the Park Authority crew opened a rear driveway entrance that runs behind the schoolhouse to enable local traffic and service vehicles to gain access to and avoid being trapped in the neighborhood.
