The Great Falls Historical Society has made the decision to dissolve the organization. In a communication sent to its members, the Officers and Directors of GFHS stated that the Society has faced the challenges of declining membership, low attendance at events, and an inability to find the volunteers needed to take on leadership roles.

The Board has made the decision to transfer its records and artifacts to the Virginia Room of the Fairfax County Library, thus assuring that these materials will be maintained and made available to the public.
