Spencer Nash, a senior at Langley High School, was recently named as one of Bank of America’s Student Leaders® for 2021.

He’s the only Fairfax County resident selected, as well as one of five high school students from the Washington, DC region, and is among approximately 300 young people from across the country to be selected as a Student Leader.

Nash’s selection qualifications include being Langley’s National Honor Society president, he is DECA vice president, and is a math and coding tutor. In addition, Nash founded Langley’s Finance Club to help educate fellow students on financial topics.

Since 2004, Student Leaders® has been part of Bank of America’s commitment to youth employment and economic mobility. The program’s stated purpose is to help prepare a diverse pipeline of community-minded young students with leadership training to be successful in the workforce. Every year the program connects more than 300 community-minded high school juniors and seniors from approximately 100 communities to employment, skills and development service.

The students, who hail from diverse backgrounds, engage in paid internships with various nonprofits, learning good money management habits and gaining practical work and life experiences. They also get to see how nonprofits, governments and businesses collaborate to meet local needs by participating in the national Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C.
