Incumbent Kathleen J. Murphy (D-34) declared victory late Tuesday in the Virginia House of Delegates election, defeating Republican candidate Gary Pan after 14 of the 28 precincts had been reported. Gary Pan tweeted a photo with the message “Thank You.”
On Wednesday, Del. Murphy issued the following statement:
I have proudly represented the values of my constituents and have fought for the issues that matter most to my district, HD34, for the past 7 years. I am grateful that I have been reelected and can continue to fight for you in Richmond. Thank you again for putting your faith in me to build on the progress that we have made for the people of the Commonwealth. Thank you so much to everyone’s hard work and the continued support. I could not have done this without the help of every single volunteer who fought with me to keep our district blue.
Del. Kathleen Murphy represents Virginia’s 34th District, located in Fairfax and Loudoun County. The House District includes McLean, Vienna, Wolf Trap, Great Falls and parts of Eastern Loudoun.
