Great Falls Library

On Monday, May 11 an email was sent from Fairfax County Public Library Services to registered library users confirming that all library facilities remain closed until further notice, along with the following information:

  • Overdue fines are suspended and due dates for all physical materials will continue to be extended to ensure that no late fees accrue while FCPL branches are closed. Patrons are encouraged to simply hold on to their materials while the library is closed.
  • All in-person, library-sponsored programs are cancelled through September 7. Instead, the library has developed digital programs for all ages.
  • Summer Reading will take place beginning June 12 until August 14, and the theme is “Imagine Your Story.” This year, it will be a virtual program for children and adults. More information will be available on the library’s website in early June.
  • All meeting room reservations are cancelled through June 30.
  • Hold pick-up dates will be extended while the library is closed.
  • No new interlibrary loan requests will be processed and current interlibrary loan requests will remain in production.
  • No donated materials will be accepted while the library is closed.
  • Wi-Fi service can be accessed from 6:00 AM until 10:00 PM daily outside of the FCPL branch buildings, with wireless connections that extend into their parking lots.
  • Ask Your Library online chat service is available to customers Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM until 5:45 PM. Customers may submit emails at any time when the service is offline.

Library patrons may find more information on the County’s COVID-19 webpage or the emergency blog.
