Fairfax County Public Library supports its creative community through programming, meeting spaces, and its Local Author Program. Now, in partnership with Library Journal and Biblioboard, the library system will facilitate contest submissions to the Virginia Author Project Contest in support of local writers.
This project accepts submissions of adult and young adult fiction to be recognized as the top indie-published eBooks in Virginia. Submissions are accepted through May 31.
The library system has asked the public to help promote this contest by sharing this information with any writers or writers groups that they may know.
The winners of the contest will receive:
- $500 each in adult and young adult categories
- Honors at the 2021 spring Independent Author Project (IAP) Reception
- Opportunities to promote their book(s) at Virginia public libraries
- Inclusion in a full-page print spread in Library Journal
- Opportunities to earn royalties through the IAP Select collection
Each book submitted to the contest must be:
- Indie-published
- In an adult fiction or young adult fiction genre
- Written by a Virginia resident
- Available in either ePUB or PDF file
