Residents all over Great Falls have been victims of illegal sign-stealing, specifically, signs in support of those seeking political office. It has been reported that the thefts have not been limited to any particular political party – signs in support of all candidates have been taken.

Some residents have reported that not only have their signs disappeared, sometimes trash has been left in their place. Also, some signs are not taken but are instead badly damaged. This adds littering and destruction of property to the list of law-breaking, which is what these activities constitute.

The editors at Great Falls Dispatch believe that the most effective way to show one’s support for a candidate is through the voting process, not in the commission of illegal acts.
