Lane Closures for the Week of Aug. 23-28, 2020

Crews will be performing storm pipe installation, excavation and fill operations, clearing and other construction-related activities on Aug. 23-28 along eastbound and westbound Route 7, on Reston Parkway, and on other neighborhood streets. Please see details below. 

As a reminder, drivers will experience lane shifts on Route 7, traffic pattern changes on neighborhood streets, and detours along the corridor. Please see the related traffic alerts. Temporary road closures are listed below.

Utility relocation work and other construction activities are ongoing in the Colvin Run and Difficult Run area, including new work activities. 

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit along Route 7 has been temporarily reduced to 45 miles per hour in active work zones between Reston Avenue and Jarrett Valley Drive and Virginia law prohibits the use of handheld cell phones while driving through an active work zone.

During construction, drivers are asked to use caution and be alert to signs, flaggers and potential police direction in work zones. Slow-moving vehicles and equipment may be entering and exiting the road. Please see VDOT’s video on navigating lane closure merges.

All work is subject to change based on weather and schedule. 

Please note that Washington Gas crews are also working along the corridor as part of the concurrent pipe replacement project, including a temporary closure of Colvin Run Road at Delta Glen Court.
