On Friday Dec. 2 at 10:30 a.m., members of the Great Falls community gathered as Winnie and Jack Frost and Chris Rich and Lori Van Gemert placed a holiday wreath on the Georgetown Pike marker at the intersection of Georgetown Pike and Seneca Road. 

Afterward, Great Falls Citizens Association president Bill Canis presented the four with certificates of appreciation from the GFCA’s board of directors. In his remarks, Canis pointed out that it was local volunteers who worked for  years to get Georgetown Pike designated as a Scenic Byway and named to the National Register of Historic Places, and it is volunteers who work to clean up the area around the sign—the gateway to the community. The certificates of appreciation are meant to signify a celebration of all the GFCA volunteers who work together to get things done.
