Virtual Public Information Meeting to be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Find out about plans to replace the Springvale Road (Route 674) one-lane bridge over Piney Run with a two-lane bridge by attending a Public Information Meeting to be held on Wednesday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held as an online meeting. Information for accessing and participating in the virtual meeting will be posted on the project website. The VDOT project team will make a short presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m. and answer questions for about an hour after the presentation.

The Springvale Road bridge over Piney Run was built in 1965 and reconstructed in 2000. Two options are being considered for the project to improve safety: widening the bridge to two lanes with two four-foot wide shoulders, or widening the bridge to two lanes separated by raised/splitter island medians with two two-foot-wide shoulders. The opening beneath the bridge will also be increased to better withstand flooding.

Interested persons may review information on the project and meeting details by visiting found on the VDOT study web site or during business hours at VDOT’s Northern Virginia District Office, 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030. In person visitors should call ahead at 703-259-2429 or TTY/TDD 711 to make an appointment with appropriate personnel.

Virtual meeting participants may voice their comments after the presentation by submitting written comments by November 2, 2020 in several ways: via the study website, by mail to Ms. Dipali Patel, P.E., Virginia Department of Transportation, 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030 or by email to meetingcomments@VDOT.virginia.gov. Emails should reference “Springvale Road over Piney Run Bridge Replacement” in the subject line.
